Grandma's Top Secret Banana Bread Recipe

If you like a thick, moist piece of banana bread, this recipe will knock your socks off. It is quite literally the best banana bread recipe out there.

When I was a little girl I loved watching my grandma work her magic in the kitchen. She would carefully measure each ingredient before adding it to the fragrant batter. the finished product, always perfection. Even back then I knew I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. She is amazing and I adore her.

And this, friends, is her banana bread recipe. A recipe which is every bit as sweet and wonderful as she is.

You will need:
1/2 cup (one stick) Butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
6-8 very ripe bananas
1 cup walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 325. Cream butter and sugars. Beat in eggs. Add baking soda to buttermilk, then add to batter. Add remaining ingredients, mix well. Pour evenly into two greased and floured loaf pans.  Bake for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

*You can also make this recipe into muffins . Bake at 350 for 22-24 minutes.
* If you don't have butter milk, add a teaspoon of lemon or lime juice to milk.
